I wasn’t very sure that this hibiscus would survive in my garden as it was looking rather poorly for quite a while, but am I really happy that it has filled out all of a sudden and today I see it has this glorious flower on it. Very pretty isn’t it?

Have a wonderful Friday and weekend AND I wish you a very happy Thanksgiving too.

God bless.

The water hyacinths have opened

I got three water hyacinths yesterday for the pond, as well as a top-up of the butterfly plant and a little dogweed to provide shade for the fish especially now that the temperature in Bahrain is on the increase, and to add colour and texture to the pond as well.

I chose the three hyacinths which were in bud stage so that they can flower in the pond and hopefully for the flowers to stay a little longer.

I didn’t expect that they would flower so soon though, but of course I am very happy to have them in my garden.

Caper flower

The first time this plant flowers with me. I bought this herb plant, the Caper (Capparis spinosa) from the recent Bahrain Garden Show and put it in a pot by the front door on a pedestal as it has a habit of "flowing" and it looks gorgeous in its place on a pedestal.

There are other buds forming so soon we might be able to enjoy a number of these delicate looking beautiful flowers.

Much better than eating their buds, this is a feast for the eyes, and it’s not even Friday yet!

Cactus Flower

The last time this cactus flowered was almost exactly a year ago! It’s a lot bigger now obviously, but is just as pretty, if not more.

It flowered only today. However, as there are a bunch of buds on this and it’s another cactus like it in the opposite bed, the scenery will look rather nice when both flower.

You can see that my seed-grown petunias are trying to take over here, as they have done in other beds!
