The first hippaestrum to flower this season. This one we bought from Italy during a recent trip.
This one is dedicated to our daughter Amna who just turned 19. Have a wonderful birthday my love and see you soon!

This is such a beautiful plant, and to have it actually flower at this time of year, in Bahrain, when the temperatures outside go between 35 – 45 celcius is such a thrill.
I was amazed a few days ago when I noticed that the Amaryllis was actually budding! The temperature outside is in the 40s now, but inside the house it’s about 24C so I think this is a very confused plant, the result; however, is very very welcome!
While I was super busy last week, the Hippaestrum’s sprouted another stalk and has five heads, the fifth is a mutant and I don’t think it will open; however, as you can see, the other four more than compensate!
Have a wonderful day…
The four buds have fully bloomed. Now I can fully admire it for as long as it will allow me to do so. This is most certainly worth the wait.
I’ve got another one that I potted last year and it hasn’t flowered yet. I don’t expect it to (no cold spell has hit it) but the huge leaves certainly add character to the corner it is in.
I don’t think I need to comment on this one, do you?
Have a wonderful day my friends…
This is the lovely sight I was treated to when I arrived home today for lunch!

At last I’ve had a chance to plant some bulbs I bought a couple of weeks ago. I opted to plant them all in pots – at least initially – as that will give me the chance to keep them inside, or move at least some to the garden at my leisure.

All the bulbs planted today were bought from the Old Jassim (in Burhama)
