Aloe Vera Pokers

Aloe Vera Pokers

Aloe Vera Pokers, originally uploaded by malyousif.

I planted many aloe veras by the old frangipani last year, I’m reaping the rewards this year as they all flowered and the scene is gorgeous in that area. The pokers themselves are enough I think. Pretty happy!

I wish you a continued peaceful long weekend and a happy new Hijri year.

A tour of my garden

A quick tour of my garden shot this morning – entirely on the iPhone 3Gs so please excuse the quality. I just wanted to primarily show the beautiful Gladiolus Callianthus (the Peacock Orchid) shown at the start of this clip, but I just got carried away and shot other things in my garden.

Hope you enjoy. Oh, and if you do, please let me know by commenting or faving the video and I’ll create more videos for you to enjoy.

A wet garden

The garden this morning

The garden has been soaked with rain the past few days. The plants seem to be happy enough with it (didn’t switch off the irrigation yet, rain is still unpredictable) but the very best thing about having sustained rain like this is the thorough washing of all the plants. Now we can see the brilliant greens, reds, pinks and all the lovely textures.

I love this time of year!

The Datura is full of flowers

Happy Friday my friends.

We came home from Rome early this morning to be greeted with this lovely thing by our front door:

datura

In a space of week, it woke up and produced all of these lovely flowers. It’s quite unfortunate that my gardener decided arbitrarily to chop the thing while we were away last time. I’m nurturing it back with judicious pruning. Hopefully it’ll be okay in a couple of years.
