This is a house located at the middle of the Saar avenue and a lot of people pass it every day. I personally get to pass it once in a while and every time I do, as I am sure the many hundreds or thousands of others that do, it fills me with admiration and a sense of happiness at the beauty of the arrangement that this house always sports, seasonally.
There are a few other houses like this in Bahrain, I hope that if you come across one, or know of one, please let me know. I’d like to go and have a look myself.
Nice! They chose a fantastic tree, Delonix regia, the Royal Poinciana. That’s a very Neo-classical European styled house as well.
Posted by Barry | 12. May, 2008, 10:37 pmI love those trees. I insisted on having one when my garden was planned and I planted it right in front of my study’s window. It was a tiny thing when it was planted, now it’s about 3 or 4 meters high.
There is no sign of it flowering though and I am worried that they gave me a duff tree! I know that it matures between 5 to 10 years of age, but the hope is still there that it will flower this year.
Posted by Mahmood | 13. May, 2008, 7:16 pmWell, seedling trees often take a while to flower. A cutting grown plant or grafted plant will often take half the time. For instance, Avocados grown from seed can take I think up to 10 years to begin flowering, but a tree grown from a cutting can flower in just a few years.
I’m reading that Delonix regia takes about 5 years to flower. Here’s hoping yours does soon! There’s some great info and a very nice mature specimen pictured here:

While we can’t grow Delonix regia where I live (too cold in winter and too cool year round), we can grow Red Flowering Gums, which get covered entirely in red flowers. In off years, part of the tree will flower but it’s usually spectacular.
